The Duhallow Board are trying to encourage as many as possible to attend the next foundation referee training course which takes place in Mallow on Saturday, March 7th . ( 9.30-3pm) .

We fully recognise how difficult it is for clubs to identify potential new referees. To that end we have organised a Question & Answer session on Friday next ( Feb 27th ) at 8pm in Kanturk GAA club rooms. Conor Lane and Jerry Kelleher will be in attendance and will outline how they got involved in refereeing, how they deal with certain situations and what makes refereeing so enjoyable for them.

We are asking clubs to send at least 2 people to this meeting if at all possible please.  You might have a few retired players in your area or someone with an interest who might want to get involved.

Attendance at this meeting does not indicate a willingness to take the referee course, it is just an informal opportunity to discuss and listen to the 2 lads outlining what refereeing means to them.

As you are undoubtedly aware the referee pool in Duhallow is dwindling. We are so appreciative of the referees we have- but we need more.

We will be in touch to ascertain interest in attending the meeting on Friday night next .

Again, there is no compulsion on anyone attending to get involved in refereeing but hopefully some few might .
